Here's the reality check for 'normal' (at least financially normal) people wanting to move to New York City and what life is like. It's not a leap from the title to figure this is full of snarkiness and valuable advice. It was funny and informative, and that's not an easy combination. It's a refreshing change from fictional stories where the characters are obviously flush with money -- I needed someone to tell it like it is. (I've only briefed visited NYC and never lived there. From the movies/books, I picture people whose main entertainment is peering into windows and from rooftops due to so many buildings being packed together. Even if I visit NYC again, I'll know a lot about being a more acceptable tourist.)Product details

I wish I could give this book zero stars. It's poorly written and the author sounds like a jerk. I'm glad it was free.
A must-read for anyone (gay or not) hoping to establish themselves in the brutal, yet beautiful, city of New York. Practical advice in a hilariously sarcastic package.
Some funny stories but not much depth, was hoping for more detailed anecdotes. Decent read for anyone interested in New York life.
New York Hates Your Face is a brutally honest, in your face glimpse at the reality of being a transplant to New York City. Anyone who has lived in New York can relate to these stories and if you haven't then it gives you an idea of what's in store. Each chapter is a new short story with new characters and a lot of sarcastic humor. The author writes from his perspective which makes it easy to read and very relatable.
